After nearly 30 years of touring the world sharing reggae music, singer Ali Campbell has decided to quit UB40.

On leaving, Campbell said, “I have been deeply unhappy with administrative practices and with many decisions that have been made in recent years,” Campbell said. “Suffice to say I felt I had no other option but to resign from my band… This decision has not been taken lightly and has come as a result of a long, painful and agonizing thought process.”

Though the remaining members of UB40 are saddened by Campbell’s departure, they believe he also wanted to pursue solo opportunities.

Campbell’s will end his relationship with UB40 at the conclusion of his tour next month in Australia, New Zealand and Uganda.
