Australian-born actor Heath Ledger was found dead in a downtown Manhattan residence, according to a New York Police Department spokesperson. He was 28.
There are no reports on the actual cause yet, although pills have been found around the bed he was sleeping in. The actor was found by a housekeeper.
Ledger will appear in one of the most anticipated movies of the year, The Dark Knight, to be released in July 2008.
