The EMI Group may have another headache on their hands. The Rolling Stones may join the bandwagon of living legends fleeing EMI, like Radiohead and Paul McCartney.

The Rolling Stones plan to release their Martin Scorsese-directed concert film through Universal. “The band are looking forward to working with Universal Music and are excited about this new venture.”

EMI hasn’t publicly stated any apprehension over the news. They claim that it was a no-brainer for the Rolling Stones to release the album through Universal since the film was produced by its affiliate Universal Pictures.

Andrew Dowler, spokesman for EMI, said, “It’s good spin: Universal are suggesting this is a broader thing, but it’s about one film, one soundtrack and had nothing to do with their relationship with the label — They’re an EMI band.”

Lucian Grainge, chairman of Universal Music Group International, stated, “We are really proud to be working with the Rolling Stones, and so is everybody in Universal Music globally.”
