Who said the WGA doesn’t have a heart. Though the Golden Globes and Academy Awards have fallen victim to the scribe strike, the WGA has given the NAACP Image Awards a freebie to pass go and collect $200.
The 39th annual awardscast of the NAACP Image Awards will go on with writers thanks to the waiver that was also given to the SAG Awards and Independent Spirit Awards.
Good thing for nominees like Don Cheadle, Aretha Franklin, Alicia Keys, Will Smith and Denzel Washington. Now they can attend at their leisure without having to watch their backs for WGA strikers lurking in the shadows.
The 39th annual NAACP Image Awards airs on Feb. 14. The Grammys though are unlikely to receive any such waiver.
