It seems like the Sony PS3 is well on its way to winning another battle in the console war with the Xbox 360 - the battle for adult movies. That’s right. According to DBTechno.com, Digital Playground, a major adult film house, has decided to produce more movies on Blu-Ray.
The reason is simple: the demand was there. It seems that Sony PS3 owners are interested in a little more than just good old-fashioned gaming action on the pricey console. PS3 owners staged a large scale campaign to lobby for more porn on Blu-Ray. I guess DVD just
Let me just say that this sets gamers everywhere back about 3 decades. At the turn of the century, gamers were starting to have a “cool” aura about them. With more professional athletes playing the latest version of Madden on ESPN and actors tooting their horns over their extraordinary Halo skills, the world as a whole began to accept gamers as more than just stereotypical “nerds.” Gamers were hip.
Well all that’s over. Don’t go on a blind date and say you like to play video games, and definitely strike that from your Myspace and Facebook profiles.
After hearing the battle cry of Sony PS3 owners for adult films in Blu-Ray (because DVD is obviously just not good enough for top notch porn - that’s a joke), it brings the old image of stereotypical gamers back into the limelight. You know, some slovenly nerd who lives at home with his mom until he/she is about 55 or so. The kind of person who is known by a wickedly cool “handle” (that’s 80s tech speak for name) in cyberspace (like Neo from the Matrix), but in person looks like he/she escaped from Revenge of the Nerds: socially inept, drinks Coca-Cola and is a disgruntled employee at an electronics store where he/she can get all the games ahead of time for 10-20% off.
Parents beware. Maybe think twice before buying your pubescent child a Sony PS3 as a gift. He/she may be enjoying a little more than just video games on their brand new magic box.
As for adult gamers, it’s hang your heads low and go back into hiding. Being cool may be a thing of the past.
