The Weinstein Company has said through its spokesman that it expects to reach an agreement with the Writer’s Guild of America (”WGA”) and that it would be signed by Friday.
Such a move would allow the independent filmmaker to go back to producing movies. The agreement would be an interim one, allowing both sides to continue work while they resume deliberations.
United Artists reached an agreement with the WGA this past Monday. This is great news for movie-goers and hopefully talks between the writers and the studios will pick up steam. You’ve got to think that everyone in the business has felt the economics pains brought on by this strike and are ready to meet in the middle.
