If you were trying get online during the holidays with that shiny new XBox you received for Christmas, chances are you had problems. Connection errors, lag, and matches that took 10 minutes to set up on Halo 3.
Microsoft blames these issues on the record-breaking traffic that XBox live received as well as the new-member sign ups that came when many gamers got new consoles.
On the Xbox 360 support site, Marc Whitten, the general manager of Xbox Live wrote that the team is “disappointed” in the service’s performance. He also mentioned that gamers would get a free game from the XBox Live arcade, but no details were given as to which game it will be or when.
