Venerable movie maker Warner Bros. Studio has decided that it will only release high definition DVDs on Sony’s Blu-Ray format.

If you’re not savvy to hi-def, there’s been an ongoing war between Blu-Ray and Toshiba’s HD-DVD format.

This is a huge blow to HD-DVD since Warner Bros. makes up about 20 percent of total DVD sales in the United States. Warner joins 20th Century Fox, Disney, LionsGate in exclusively supporting Blu-Ray. HD-DVD still has support from Viacom, Paramount and NBC Universal.

That blows. I hate Sony. The whole HD-DVD vs. Blu Ray thing sucks. If it wasn’t for Xbox 360, I wouldn’t even touch HD DVD and would stick to DVD.
