Writer/Producer/Director Tyler Perry has joined the cast of the upcoming J.J. Abrams Star Trek movie.
Perry will play the head of the Starfleet Academy and is rumored to have already shot scenes with young Captain Kirk, played by Chris Pine and young Spock, played by Heroes’ Zachary Quinto.
This is good news for the flick. Perry is a solid actor and his work on his Why Did I Get Married and his famed “Madea” movies have been great. The cast for the Star Trek film is rounding out nicely with Eric Bana, Winona Ryder and the original Spock Leonard Nimoy already on board.
