Shawn Carter, known to the world as rapper Jay-Z, is expected to step down as president of Def Jam at the end of the year, when his contract expires.
His stay was a short one, starting in 2005. The company did see mega hits from Kanye West, Rihanna and Jay-Z himself during that time.
In a statement, Jay stated “Now it’s time for me to take on new challenges.”
He’s expected to still record for Def Jam and who knows how many more times he’ll come out of his early retirement from the rap game.
