LatinoReview.com is reporting that two very important characters have been cast for the 2009 GI Joe Live action movie.

Tommy S. Arashikage, better know as the sword-wielding ninja Storm Shadow, will be played be Korean Actor Byung-Hun Lee. If you remember, Storm Shadow is part of the terrorist organization Cobra, personal bodyguard of Cobra Commander and often feuds with his swordbrother Snake-Eyes. Just a few weeks ago, Ray Park was cast as fan favorite Snake-Eyes.

GI Joe Casting Update

On the Joe’s side, Rachel Nichols, of Alias fame, will play crossbow-handy Shana “Scarlett” O’Hara. Scarlett is known for her counter-intelligence expertise and her romantic relationship with Snake Eyes.  Rachel can be seen this weekend in Charlie Wilson’s War, starring Tom Hanks. She will also be in the upcoming Star Trek movie.

So far, I can’t fault the talent selection for the roles. Even Sienna Miller as the Baroness (rumored) will work for me. All in all, I’m glad to see this movie taking shape and hopefully it will be another great 80s cartoon/comic book to make a successful transition to the big screen.

I totally agree with -Cobra commander is a comic book-. I mean seriously… I’m also a marine! This movie has nothing to do with the real military, it is a fictional base story. Trust me I’m a patriot to the core, but for you to spout out crap like this, lets do some reseatch devildog you’re making us look ignorant.

FYI Stormshadow and Snake eyes were both ninjas from that comic.

What is America? Army Col D W Hunt, is this guy some racist officer who lacks the ability to see that AMERICA is made up of many different cultures/people? I for one question his education and background.

Hollywood Should Burn on Mar 27th, 2008 at 1:50 pm

It’s a movie based on something real. I don’t know about any comic book or cartoon, but If Hollywood really wanted to show it’s worth, they’d interview real people before making a movie like this.

Quite honestly, it’s bad form. But since moving to America, all I’ve seen is for lack of a better word crap come out of hollywood. it would do well for these american filmmakers to watch more “foreign” features and learn what real filmmaking is about.

then again most american filmmakers steal ideas from overseas and call it their own after they ruin it

People it’s is a movie. It’s not supposed to be politically correct. Movies of this nature are produced to entertain our stressed out society. I guarantee that the Soldiers would LOVE to see this movie during R & R instead of seeing some boring political documentary.

    LOL!!!

GI JOE has NINJAS? That’s totally absurd? I mean, DUH, Ninjas aren’t even American! They’re Japanese. How stupid can Hollywood be? What are they going to do, start calling it NIN-JOE?

I agree with the military man this is ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS!

Cobra Commander is a Comic Book on Mar 25th, 2008 at 6:06 pm

Stupid? Stupid is raising all hell because you think a comic book series is misrepresenting the marines. The movie is based off of the 1982 Marvel Comic book series authored by Larry Hama.

If you really had a problem with this, why didn’t you start your campaign back in the 80s? Just want to get your two seconds of fame by campaigning against it because it has Hollywood funding? Trying to create a reality series for yourself maybe? Get over it. Real American Heroes don’t have to go around patting themselves on the back saying they’re Real American Heroes. They just are. Nothing against your contribution, but you should just calm down and get off of your high horse.

Now granted Cobra Commander was a used car salesman and not a CIA operative, but that’s besides the point. Anyway in the Devil’s Due continuation of the series he did recently infiltrate the White House as an officer in the president’s cabinet. So, I guess that’s close enough. But, alas, THAT’S FICTION. So again get over it.

Back to the military, I’ll bet you at least 50% or more of the armed forces at present considered joining the armed forces when they were children just because they watched GI Joe cartoons or reading the comic.

Pick up a comic and get your head out the gutter.

I am a member of the United States Military. I am very angry at the GIJOE movie being changed from Real American Heroes to a more global friendly picture that plays on the anti American sentiment. GIJOE stands for Government Issued Joes which came about during WW2 from a Medal of Honor winner. My self and other Military personnel are starting an email camping to boy cot Hasbro and all related items about the movie. As fare as I am concerned this is a slap in the face to all American Military world wide past and present. Any one involved in this Movie in any way is a traitor to the American Way of Life. Since when did it become so wrong to be a Real American Hero? To add insult to injury to all Americans, Cobra Commander is an American CIA agent turned traitor who ends up leading cobra. So an American in charge of a terrorist group!! Nice to see Hollywood is so Pro America??? 1 major insult I find is, in the movie GIJOE will fall under the command of the U.N. Since when did the U.N. do any thing for the world except complain and criticize those for taking action to help save lives?? Any 1?

I am a United States Marine and a Real American Hero. As fare as I am concerned the actors of the upcoming movie have turned their backs on the troops of the United States Military.Hear is a quote from a former service member Retired Army Col. David W. Hunt, a FOX News military and terrorism analyst, called the scheme to make a whole new Joe “a shame.” G.I. Joe is a U.S. guy,” Hunt said. “What are we going to call it — Global Joe? International Joe? It’s kind of stupid. It’s ridiculous that they’re doing that.
