Jimmy Kimmel will also return January 2nd with new shows following yesterday’s decision by NBC to bring back The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and The Conan O’Brien Show. Carson Daly’s “Last Call” show returned earlier this month.
Similar to Leno and O’Brien, Kimmel cited the welfare of his show’s staff as the impetus for returning to work. He felt that he honored the Writer’s Strike, but that the rest of his staff is also important.
In a statement released by ABC, Kimmel said:
Though it makes me sick to do so without my writers, there are more than a hundred people whose financial well-being depends on our show. It is time to go back to work.
