Will Smith sparked some new interest this holiday season with “I am Legend.” The film brought in an estimated 76.5 million in domestic box office sales this weekend.
Surprisingly, “Alvin and the Chipmunks” came in second with 45 million.
Even more startling is that the weekend opening for “Alvin and the Chipmunks” has already trumped the 10 day $41 million total for the “The Golden Compass.”
