Carson Daly Shrugs off Scribes and Goes Back to ProductionIn a startling move, Carson Daly has decided to cross the picket lines and resume production on his late night talk show “Last Call with Carson Daly.”

This has got to come as a shock to other late night talk shows, that promptly went into shutdown after the WGA Strike began. Though Daly is not a member of the WGA, most would still expect him to support the writers. Currently, no scheduled guests have been announced for the Late Call comeback. And, one has to wonder who Carson will get to appear, especially since SAG has showed overwhelming support of the writers both at east and west coast demonstrations.

Writers Guild spokesman Gregg Mitchell did not immediately comment on the situation. But, one can suspect his feeling towards Carson is similar to that of Ellen DeGeneres, who also broke strike lines. The only difference being that Ellen is actually a member of the guild.

Hopefully, Carson doesn’t end up with a giant inflatable pig with dollar signs in its eyes outside of his studio. But, chances are Daly will feel some tension from the guild.

The question remains as to whether Carson’s move will put pressure on other late-night talk shows that have been dark since the start of the strike. Even comedic political talk shows have been dark since the strike began, including “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart” and “The Colbert Report.”

Daly will begin taping new episodes of “Last Call with Carson Daly” this week at the NBC Burbank studio. New episodes will begin airing next week.
