Chelsea’s beleaguered nightlife has claimed another victim. The latest victim is Shamel McKinney who was stabbed to death yesterday at “Duvet,” a trendy night club in Chelsea New York adorned with 30 beds. McKinney, friend to rapper Fabolous who was at the club earlier that day, found himself caught in an altercation that ensued between two women.
According to the Daily News, Shamel’s brother Darryl McKinney, who was also at the club, said, “The fight broke out but he (Shamel) had nothing to do with it… he got caught in the middle… he wasn’t with the girls.” Darryl asked, “How did a knife get in the club? I was in the club (and) they searched me.”
The knife used to stab Shamel in the chest and in the back had a 7-inch long blade and was found in a dumpster near the club.
The police are looking to ask Fabolous questions regarding the victim. Just last year (October 2006), Fabolous was shot in the thigh in a shooting outside of Justin’s, Sean “Diddy” Combs’ restaurant/nightspot.
