The latest casualty of the now infamous Writer’s Strike, is “State of Play,” a political thriller film from Universal. Brad Pitt was scheduled to co-star in the film alongside his former “Fight Club” co-star Ed Norton. Pitt pulled out of the film due to issues with the script, which cannot be worked on during the WGA Strike.
Universal issued the following statement, “Brad Pitt has left the Universal Pictures production of ‘State of Play.’ We remain committed to this project and to the filmmakers, cast members, crew and others who are also involved in making the movie. We reserve all rights in this matter.”
Universal is now considering Russell Crowe and Johnny Depp for the role.
