Productions woes brought on by the WGA strike has made its way to Canada. According to the Vancouver Sun, Bionic Woman and Battlestar Galactica (now in its last season), both closed doors. The two sci fi dramas were both shot in Canada and employed over 200 people.
That’s not all. According to Don Cott, vice-president of the Canadian affiliate of the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television producers, the following shows are all scheduled for shut down:
- Aliens in America by end of November
- Supernatural on Dec. 5
- Men in Trees on Jan. 15
- Smallville on Jan. 23
Peter Leitch, chairman of the Motion Picture Production Industry Association of B.C. and president of North Shore and Mammoth studios, said, “The writers’ strike is overshadowing everything right now. That is the No. 1 concern of the industry.”
