Writers Strike Stops Desperate HousewivesThe writers’ strike continues to bring a halt to the entertainment business. On day one, most late night talk shows came to a close without the writers to script the jokes. Shows like the Letterman, Conan O’Brien, the Daily Show, and the Colbert Report were all immediately affected by the strike since they rely on “fresh” news topics.

The most recent show to come to a halt is ABC’s hit drama Desperate Housewives. According to Alexandra Cunningham, the producer of Housewives, production will close on Wednesday when the last of the scripts are exhausted.

Actress Eva Longoria showed her support for the writers by handing out pizza to the striking scribes. Longaria said, “If we prevent them from working today, that’s a small victory … “We (actors/actresses) are done, and we’ll be on the lines supporting you.”

Other shows that have stopped production include:

  • “Til Death” on Fox
  • “The Big Bang Theory” on CBS
  • “Two and a Half Men” on CBS
  • “The New Adventures of Old Christine” on CBS
  • “Back to You” on Fox
  • “Rules of Engagement” on CBS

Actress Tina Fey, star and creator of the Emmy award winning 30 Rock, said the strike has everything to do with the Internet.
