The latest episode of Avatar the Last Airbender, entitled The Runaway, was light on plot development and heavy on humor.
When Toph and Kitara have a bending fight. Toph decides to take a breather by visiting the local fire nation village and engaging in some much needed rest and relaxation. But R&R for Toph leads to scamming several fire nation villagers out of money.
In the “Runaway,” Toph plays up her blindness in order to trick unsuspecting victims into laying down their guard. Then she uses her bending to win at gambling.
Kitara discovers that the town has a warrant out for Toph aka The Runaway. She is none to happy with Toph’s actions. “We’ve already got some third eyed freak after us,” she screams at Toph, trying to convince her to stop scamming the villagers. That’s when Sokka has another one of his genius ideas.
“Speaking of that third eye freak, I think I’ve come up with a name for him. What do you think of Sparky Skarky Boom man?”
We learn that Toph is using gambling as an outlet for her repressed feelings over leaving her family. Toph and Kitara come to an understanding, and try for one last scam. Unfortunately, Sparky Sparky Boom man turns up to scam their scam, landing both Toph and Kitara in jail.
The two are able to fight there way out. And Sokka renames Sparky Sparky Boom man to Combustian Man.
