Today’s “marquee” DVD release is that of Spider-Man 3, the over-bloated, over-hyped “creative flop” that still pushed box office sales past the $300 million dollar mark (domestically).
The movie symbolized everything that’s wrong with Hollywood; stretching a once good idea beyond its limits. Director Sam Raimi went for the gusto with this one, packing it full of underdeveloped characters that you just didn’t care about. Not only do you have drama with Mary Jane and 3 villains to ignore, but also you get to see the infamous Spidey Symbiote transformation glossed over. Most egregious, however, is the fact that one of Spidey’s most notorious foes, Venom, was relegated to about 10 minutes of on screen time. Lame.
Anyway, now that I’ve warned you, if you were so inclined to purchase this DVD, here’s the special features (for the two disc version):
Spider-Man 3 is available on DVD and Blu-Ray High-Def.
