The DC Universe is all the buzz these days in the Hollywood film industry. With a vast array of new films scheduled for production, it’s no wonder why DC is pushing it’s fastest man alive to the forefront.
David Dobkin recently revealed to MTV that he will be directing the new Flash feature. He will be taking over for Shawn Levy.
Now, with so many incarnations of the Flash, the question remains, which Flash will be the star?
Dobkin states that Wally West will be the focus of the Flash. Which is probably best. Although Barry Allen was the greatest Flash of all time, Wally West is the current Flash. And, this falls right in line with the upcoming JLA movie, which was rumored to open with the death of Barry Allen. What can you say? Good heroes die - even before they hit the screen.
Dobkin also directed “Wedding Crashers” and “Fred Claus,” both movies, albeit funny, hardly translate into credentials for a Flash feature. One would hope that the Flash doesn’t become a slap-stick movie and maintains the “dark” atmosphere of movies like “Batman Begins.” Dobkin’s claim is that he won’t treat the character as a joke. Let’s hope so.
The rumor is that the Flash movie will also stay in the same universe as the upcoming JLA feature. Which means one thing on both fronts - don’t mess this up for comic purists.
Now, the question remains who will be the focal villain in the Flash. Let’s hope it’s not Gorilla Grodd. Most likely it will be one of the Flash Rogues - the front runner being Captain Cold.
Eek. Just thinking about a villain with the power of frost reminds me of the terrible version of Mr. Freeze, played by Arnold Schwarzenegger, in the 1997 “Batman & Robin” feature. You know what? Let’s just pretend that movie never existed and move on to the future.

Barry Allen will forever be the one true Flash. They should at least put some back story in the movie with references to Barry because Wally is always trying to live up to the hero Barry was.
anybody hear that doomsday will be in the next superman flick?
