We’ve watched Clark Kent grow up from an insecure high school kid with super strength, to an adult who is ready to accept his fate as the world’s greatest hero. Now, that we’re seven seasons deep into the saga of Smallville, many have started to ask the question: when will it come to a close?

Executive Producer Alfred Gough told SciFi Magazine, “Whether it takes 22 or 44 episodes to do it, we’re definitely moving towards an ending.”

So, that gives us up to two more seasons to see what will become of Clark, Lana, Lex, Lionel, Chloe and Lois. Gough stated, “So, I think you’re going to start to see certain storylines close up and certain characters we’ll say goodbye to as the journey continues.”

It’s going to be hard to say goodbye to some of our favorite characters. When Pa Kent died, it was a sad moment for all Smallville fans. Many wondered if he was going to be brought back. Alas, a few seasons later and Pa Kent remains buried. As for Martha Kent, she’s moved on to become Senator and left the confines of her Smallville farm.

Lois is finally working at the Daily Planet, leaving her cousin Chloe working in the basement. While, Chloe’s meteor powers may one day lead to her untimely death. Lana now back with Clark has become a Lex Luthor stalker. Clark’s doubtful about the relationship, knowing that he will outlive Lana. There’s going to be some closure between now and the end of Smallville we’re Clark and Lana make a permanent break.

Lionel remains M.I.A. for the present, but sooner or later he will die too. All those who uncover Clark’s secret are doomed to death. The penalty of knowing the future Superman. Lex, says he’s changed. How long will that last? Give it an episode or two. He’s rotten to the core and no near death experience will change that. Like he said when his personality was split in two, “I am the villain of this story.”

Smallville Executive Producer Gough Says End is Near for Series - JLA

What about the JLA? Will we see a young Batman or Wonder Woman make an appearance to round out the team? We’ve seen references to Gotham City before, but will the producers introduce Bruce Wayne to the saga?

As for Clark, he’s embraced his mission from Jor-El. The question is, will cousin Kara Zor-El become a problem for him? Clark still can’t fly. Expect to see him overcome that fear sometime before the end of the season.

You can catch Smallville every Thursday at 8pm EST on the CW.

I don’t think they’ll End Smallville noway like Louis and Clark did not end up together (yet) but evidentley they will. when Clark. turns into

Superman their will be a Chemistry between those
two no offense but i don’t like Clark&Lana together
they’ll probabley end. this show in 2010. which will

be sad for CW. it’s just so sad to see so many charcters dyeing off the show they will be miss this
year if Smallville ends during their 10th season

they also will be missed I love Alison Mack as Chloe keep her flowing, she’s the best,

I think Clark should pick Lana and Lana should die leaving Clark devastated and into the arms of lois the problem is there is to much history and love between them and fans have that same connection Lana needs to die in love with Clark and Clark needs to loose her in love at Lex hand or something the ultimate line kill the one he loves.

I think the show should finish and have a justice
league spinoff , I am sick of the Clana Clois , Superman should get with Wonder Woman.

    Robin,
I have to agree with you that Chloe is the moral core of Smallville. She does seem to have a Superman type quality about her, including the fact that she can’t maintain a relationship due to her secret. Just like Clark she considers herself an outcast, with a secret she protects from those she loves.

Ironically, despite bearing so many similarities to Clark, a relationship between the two will probably never come to
    be.

It’s funny you mentioned Chloe and Lionel in the same heartbeat. These two are easily my favorite characters. ;)

Alas, I don’t think Chloe can become Supergirl. From my understanding of the Superman mythos, Kara is Supergirl since she is Krypton’s last daughter.

But it would definitely be cool if we saw her in the comic. I don’t know how compelling her power would be as a super per say. Her ability hasn’t been clearly defined. She seems to just possess some sort of healing/resurrection ability which she used on her cousin Lois.

Is it just me, or does it seem as though Chloe is the really breakout star of the show? All the other characters, except Lionel Luthor, are already part of the Superman cast.

She’s the moral core of it, really, since Martha Kent has gone on to be some sort of politician. And now that she’s revealed to have some kind of ‘meteor power’, doesn’t that leave open the question of what happens to her? She doesn’t necessarily have to die as a character, just because she knows all about Clark Kent.

What if she becomes some new super character, which might become a new character also in comic-book-land?

Or, what if she becomes Supergirl? Is there any other character in Smallville who has the true-blue, heart-of-gold-ness that a Supergirl would have to possess?

    +++++

It’s true, the Lana story arc has become hackneyed.

Honestly, I’m still surprised Chloe is alive. Ever since the early days of Smallville, those who knew Clark’s secret died by the end of the episode. Pete was the first one to survive, but then he got written out the script. Chloe surived an especially long time. Lana will live, she just won’t be with Clark.

And, as for Clark flying. They need to just get that out of the way. He flew numerous times as “Kal” so there’s no reason why he should still be “afraid of heights” especially when he can dive off of a building to save Ms. Lang.

Be like Nike Clark - Just Do It.

Yea i agree with the whole Lana thing.. I mean seriously, the entire first couple of seasons we were all on the edge of our seats waiting and wondering when Lana was going to find out about Clark. Now that she has, face it, everyone who knows about Clark is going to die save Martha.

We all knew they would end the show eventually and the only thing left is to see Clark fly away as Superman, which is how the story will end im sure.

Hey as much as i love smallville i think it’s time they wrapped it up. i’m surprised but happy it lasted this long. and, yea lana lang needs to go. she’s totally mental. so hopefully clark kicks her to the curb soon and realizes lois is the real deal.
