LA Ink Episode 11 Recap : ' Holly's Here'

This week’s LA Ink, entitled “Holly’s Here,” focused on Hannah and her daughter Holly, who is in Los Angeles to to visit her mom. Hannah’s bummed because she supposedly has to work all weekend while Holly visits.

Meanwhile, Kat Von D is busy meeting with Wes Humpston, a legend in the LA skateboarding scenee, in order to work together to design skateboard together. Kat considers it an honor to work with him.

Here’s this hour’s tattoos (click on images for a larger pic).

Client: Aaron, Graphic Designer
Tattoo Artist: Corey
Concept/Backstory: Aaron wants a portrait tattoo of his grandfather, who was a professional boxer.
Result: It’s a pretty simple portrait for Corey and he does a great job of replicating it. Aaron walks away pleased with his new forearm tattoo.

Client: Rita (The Widow of the late Dimebag Darrell’s from Pantera)
Tattoo Artist: Kat Von D
Concept/Backstory: Rita wants a tribute tattoo to her late husband, who was murdered on stage during a concert.
Result: Kat does an amazing recreation of the portrait that Rita brings in; pretty much replicating Dimeback Darrell on her forearm.

Client: Liz, Artist
Tattoo Artist: Hannah
Concept/Backstory: Liz wants a tattoo to signify her jump into a new career and brings in her own painting as the inspiration.
Result: A very nicely done tattoo by Hannah. Liz shows her gratitude by giving Hannah one of her paintings.

Client: Rob, Public Relations Executive
Tattoo Artist: Kim
Concept/Backstory: Rob wants a tattoo of the skyline of Chicago, which is where he grew up.
Result: Kim does a good job of researching Chicago and coming up with an original design. Her black and white tattoo is pretty simple, but done well. Rob is excited about the final result and gives her an Illinois license plate to adorn on her work station (Kim is originally from Chicago as well).

Client: Ashley, Advertising Copywriter
Tattoo Artist: Kat Von D
Concept/Backstory: Ashley wants a phrase in Spanish on her side in script. The phrase, “Si Te Hace Feliz,” has an internal meaning for her and signifies her coming out with her sexuality. In English, that means “If It Makes You Happy.”
Result: Kat has done a ton of these script tattoos so far on LA Ink. It works well for the client and she leaves the shop very happy.

Client: Rusty, Mortgage Broker
Tattoo Artist: Corey
Concept/Backstory: Rusty wants a tattoo of the Japanese symbols for “First Son,” since he’s the first son of his family.
Result: This is an easy one for Corey and he puts a lot of detail into it.
