Tyler Perry’s “Why Did I Get Married?” dominated the box office this weekend, drawing in an estimated $21.5 Million in ticket sales. The movie follows the stories of couples evaluating their relationships during an annual reunion. It benefited from an all star cast including Janet Jackson, Malik Yoba, Jill Scott and writer-director Perry.
That number was enough to best last week’s champion, “The Game Plan,” starring The Rock. George Clooney’s “Michael Clayton” came in a disappointing third with $11.01 million. Even more disappointing were the premieres of “We Own the Night,” starring Mark Walhberg and “Elizabeth: The Golden Age,” starring Cate Blanchett.
