As if the title of the 10th episode of LA Ink wasn’t self-explanatory (”Kat’s In Love”), we learn right off the bat that Kat Von D is enamored with her new boyfriend Orbi, who is a drummer of a band named Whitestar. Interesting enough, they both have the same body build, hairstyle, and sunglasses. Anyway, the two met through a mutual friend and sparks flew when they went on double date with Kat’s shop-mate Kim. Kat continues to gush over him the entire episode to the point of nausea for each viewer.
First up in the shop is this week’s “celebrity” guest, Jenna Jameson of adult-film industry fame. Jenna is a looking a tad bit stretched in the face from obvious plastic surgery (not to mention her lips bursting with collagen) and wants a tattoo of a quote from her hero Joan of Arc, who she deems one of the world’s first powerful women. The design reads “I’m not afraid. I was born to do this.” Kat draws up some cool letters and Jenna is pleased with the final result.

Patron: Robin
Artist: Hannah
Concept/Backstory: Robin wants a black and gray portrait tattoo of her son Daniel, who recently passed away from Sudden Infant Death Syndrome.

Patron: Colleen
Artist: Kim
Concept/Backstory: Colleen survived Hurricane Katrina and wants a simple tattoo of poppy flowers.
Result: A very simple tattoo - nothing too extravagant.
Patron: Matt Skiba from the band Alkaline Trio
Artist: Kat Von D
Concept/Backstory: Matt wants a script tattoo of “Hello Cleveland” to commemorate his time as a musician.
Result: Another simple design, which Kat is able to do without much effort.
We saw some great tats this week on LA Ink. The episode ended with Kat taking time off from her new boyfriend and then nixing that idea to follow her heart and be with him again. Tune in next week to see what happens when Hannah becomes homesick.
