Amazon and Penguin Group Announce Breakthrough Novel Award

Amazon.com, the Penguin Group, and Hewlett-Packard Co. have announced the Amazon Breakthrough Novel Award.

Russell Grandinetti, Amazon.com’s president of books, said, “The Amazon Breakthrough Novel Award is an opportunity for our customers to have an exciting, significant voice in the process of discovering a new novelist.”

Tim MCall, director of online sales and marketing for Penguin, said, “Amazon has this amazing reach into the reading community… And we think people will be captivated by the way these manuscripts advance through the reviewing process.”

The winner of the Amazon Breakthrough Novel Award will receive a full publishing contract from Penguin Group, including promotional support for their novel on Amazon.com, and a media suite from Hewlett-Packard.
