Tony Almeida Returns for 24's Season 7Normally, I detest when TV shows bring a character back from the dead. It shouts of desperation to obtain shock value - first from the character’s death and then from their inevitable return. In the case of Fox’s 24, I’m ready to make an exception.

Fox has revealed that Carlos Bernard will return as Tony Almeida in Season 7 of 24. I’ve told a dozen people already and 11 of them replied “Isn’t he.. dead?” If you remember, Tony was stabbed (and supposedly killed) by villain Christopher Henderson in the middle of Season 5. The show was slightly ambiguous about his death. Tony, in a weakened state from an earlier injury, was on the verge of killing Henderson in retaliation for killing his wife, Michelle Dessler. Henderson turned the tables and stabbed Tony with a syringe that supposedly contained a deadly agent. The start of the subsequent episode showed medical personnel drawing a blanket over Almeida, suggesting that he had passed.

Tony Almeida's 'Death' during Season 5
So to every viewer that has complained about the lack of a silent clock for Tony’s ‘death‘ (which includes myself), you now know why. There has been a ton of speculation since his so-called death in early 2006 on just about every 24 message board on the web. Yes, it may be a little soap-opera-ish, but come on, this is Tony Almeida we’re talking about!

Apparently, Season 7 will start off with Jack discovering that Tony is alive. There’s no word on how important Tony will be to the season’s plot, but we can only hope that he is heavily involved.

Will this be the necessary kick start to the series to erase the horrendous sixth season from our collective memories? Has 24 jumped the shark with this development? Did it jump the shark ages ago?

I think they shoud never let Carlos Bernard leave the show. He made Tony a great character, and his relationship with Michell gave the show its tender side

TONY ALMEIDA as the bad guy is a very bad idea! Let the man die already! PLEASE! We need to see new faces, both bad and good! I mean, is Tony trying to be co-star to Jack Bauer every freakin season?!!! Seriously!!! Enough already with Tony… Michelle died… he tried to defend her memory, in the process got himself killed… then that’s it!!! leave it alone already! Bringing him back only undermines Tony Almeida’s complete history in the show… I beg you… DON”t!!!

I dont think that almeida’s gonna be the bad guy the complete season, maybe he just start as the one but at the middle jack will find out that he is doing this for something that was out of his hands or something like that

This time Tony will be the bad guy leading the terrorist attacks. Jack stands up against Tony unfortunately and this time I think Tony will get a silent clock.
