On Sept. 19 catch the series premiere of “Gossip Girl” on the CW. The new series, based on the popular series of young-adult novels by Cecily von Ziegesar, stars Blake Lively as Serena van der Woodsen.
The show, based in New York, revolves around the blog of the allknowing albeit ultra-secretive Gossip Girl. When ex-party girl Serena returns to NYC from boarding school, she becomes all the buzz on the Gossip Girl blog. No one knows Gossip Girl’s identity, but everyone in this exclusive and complicated vicious circle relies on her website and text messages for the latest scoop. Even Serena’s closest friend, Blair Waldorf (Leighton Meester, “Entourage”), is surprised to find that Serena has suddenly ended her selfimposed exile to boarding school and returned to Manhattan.
Like any teen show, keeping track of the shifting friendships, jealousies and turmoil in this wealthy and complex world isn’t easy, but it’s what Gossip Girl does best.
“Gossip Girl” looks to have a “Beverly Hills 90210″ flair with an updated story arch that involves the culture of blogging and text messages.
