The second season of Showtime’s hit series “Dexter” returns in just under two weeks. Everyone will be gathering around their televisions to watch their favorite antihero Dexter Morgan, a Miami police department blood analyst who fancies himself a good guy for killing bad guys.
Season two kicks off over a month after the events in season one. The noose is wound even tighter around Dexter’s neck as Miami’s finest begin to hone in on his illicit activity. At the end of last season, Dexter, in heroic fashion, has just killed the Ice Truck Killer. In doing so, he’s saved the city and his sister Debra. The only problem is the Ice Truck Killer was Dexter’s only brother.
It’s time for another one of the Bag Man’s famous comic book analogies. You see, the reason everyone loves Dexter is simple. He represents the guy we can’t be. By day he has a covert lifestyle working for the Miami PD. But, then when a killer surfaces and threatens the life of innocents, Dexter springs into action. He has one motive: kill the killer.
“Part of what we love in our antiheroes now is that shadow side, that part of what we love in ourselves because we all have that shadow,” said Clyde Phillips, executive producer on “Dexter.”
One questions still looms over Dexter’s heart. Is he a good guy doing bad things or a bad guy doing good things?
Just like a comic book the audience gets a glimpse into Dexter’s twisted mind. With the show’s unique narrative VO, we get to hear exactly what goes on in the mind of madman.
Season two will be the deciding factor as Dexter decides if its necessary to frame an innocent man for his misdeeds.
Tune in Sept 30 at 9pm for the new season of “Dexter” only on Showtime.
