This week on LA Ink, shop manager Pixie is sick and in need of surgery to remove her tonsils. Pixie’s upset that she can’t work for a week if she does have the surgery (which is funny considering the shop is closed during the day while they’re filming). And apparently, Kat Von D isn’t paying her enough, so she needs to raise money to have the surgery.
This week’s tattoos (click on thumbnails for larger image):
Patron: Scott Ian, Anthrax guitarist
Tattoo Artist: Kat Von D
Concept/Backstory: An arm tattoo of AC/DC member Angus Young.
Result: This is a pretty easy portrait tattoo for Kat to pull off.
Patron: Dave, Tattoo Apprentice
Tattoo Artist: Corey
Concept/Backstory: Dave wants a tattoo of Michael Hussar’s ”Self Portrait of Hans Memling.”
Result: Wow, what a creepy photo to replicate. Good job by Corey though. See for yourself.
Patron: Setra, Singer/Songwriter
Tattoo Artist: Kim
Concept/Backstory: Setra wants a sun tattoo to serve as a tribute for her father.
Result: Nothing too exciting here - it’s a simple tattoo and the colors work well.
Patron: Sara, Executive Assistant
Tattoo Artist: Hannah
Concept/Backstory: A tattoo with flowers to symbolize beauty.
Result: I like the colors on this one, Hannah gives Sara an awesome tattoo that looks great.
Patron: Gilbert, Service Advisor
Tattoo Artist: Kat Von D
Concept/Backstory: Gilbert wants his first tattoo to be of his late daughter, Vanessa.
Result: I thought it was funny that Kat had to check the spelling of the Spanish word “vez,” which means time. But anyway, this portrait is great and Gilbert is happy with the end result.
Patron: Heidi, Designer
Tattoo Artist: Corey
Concept/Backstory: A tattoo of a phrase from her wedding vows to suprise her husband.
Result: Corey gives Heidi exactly what she wants.
Towards the end, Kat offers to help Pixie out since she doesn’t have the cash to pay for the surgery. The gang at the shop get together to hold an auction to raise money for Pixie. They’re able auction merchandise, tattoos and make enough to pay for Pixie’s surgery.
Tune in next time to see Kat give Frank Iero a tattoo.
