The channel that brought you Meerkat Manor and LA Ink is back with a new series that’s bound to keep you on the edge of your seat.
This fall “Last One Standing” premieres on the Discovery Channel. The 12-part series features 6 athletes, three from Britain and three from America, who will travel the world living and learning from the indigenous tribesmen. The journey takes them anywhere from South Africa to Mexico as they become fully initiated in a foreign culture and “prepare to represent their host tribe in raw and intense competition.”
Meet the competitors:
- Rajko, 29 – British All-Rounder and Ex-World Record Holder
- Jason, 21 – Florida State BMX Champion, 2006
- Richard, 21 – Oxford University Sportsman — Cricket, Rugby and Croquet
- Brad, 28 – American Pro Lightweight Strongman
- Mark, 26 – British Salsa Dancer and Kickboxer
- Corey, 22 – Hiker and Endurance Athlete

This isn’t your parent’s reality show. “Last One Standing” goes beyond the normal competition. In the premiere episode, watch as culture shock sets in during the Brazilian rite of passage where piranha teeth were scraped on the athletes’ legs and the open wounds were rubbed with salt and chillies. “It was searingly painful,” recalls Richard. “The scraping was bad enough, but the chillies brought a new level of pain. However, it made me feel integrated and was a great boost before the competition.”
Catch the premiere of “Last One Standing” on Thursday, October 4, at 9 PM ET/PT.
