Batgirl Jodie Foster the 2007 Dark KnightYou may have read the title of this article and blurted out, “Hogwash, Poppycock!. Barbara Gordon is Batgirl, not Jodie Foster.” And, yes, nine-out-of-ten people on the street would most assuredly agree with you.

But, those who have seen the trailer for “The Brave One” may have a different opinion. In “The Brave One,” Jodie Foster loses her lover and dog to low-life criminal scum. What does she do? Cry like a baby and call it a day? Nope! Not this girl. Instead Foster takes the yearning for vengence in her heart and turns into one bad a$$ vigilante.

Batgirl Jodie Foster Becomes 2007 Dark Knight in The Brave OneSound familiar? Well, it’s pretty much the story of Bruce Wayne, Gotham’s own Batman. The boy whose parents were murdered by a street thug named Joe Chill. The boy who grew up to become the most feared pissed-off psychotic crime fighting genius known as the Dark Knight. The difference. One, Bruce had a hell-of-a-lot of money to go traveling the world learning from the greatest martial arts masters and criminology experts. Two, Bruce doesn’t use guns, the weapon that took his parents’ lives. In contrast, Foster has no reservations about using a gun to solve crimes. Two, she’s a woman, hence the Batgirl analogy. Oh, and three… Foster doesn’t wear a cape and cowl.

The trailer for “The Brave One” looks killer, and the time-tested story has a nice little twist. Is “The Brave One” worth watching? The Bag Man is going to go with a resounding YES!

So, on Sept. 14, join the Bag Man in checking out “The Brave One” and wet your pallet for 2008’s theatrical release of “The Dark Knight.”
