Starting Monday, September 3, seasons one and two of Family Guy will be available for download to Xbox Live subscribers. The new deal between 20th Century Fox, a News Corp. company, and Microsoft marks Fox’s first step into the world of digital download for Family Guy.
Also, available to Xbox Live subscribers will be “Family Guy Presents Stewie Griffin: The Untold Story.” The straight to DVD movie was released May 2007.
Surprisingly, Family Guy, created by Seth MacFarlane, is still unavailable for download on iTunes, the leader in downloadable content.
Fox executive-vp John McCabe says the new partnership with Microsoft is well timed with the release of Family Guy season five on DVD, Microsoft’s upcoming release of Halo 3, and Family Guy season six. “We hope to have other content on there, but right now with the launch of ‘Halo 3′ and the launch of the new season of ‘Family Guy’ coming out, the timing really worked well for this one.”
Family Guy season five will be available on DVD September 18. Halo 3 hits stores September 25. Family Guy returns to Fox for its season six premier on September 23. The episode is titled “Blue Harvest.”
