Sony, makers of the PSP handheld video-game system, announced that it plans to expand on downloadable content for the gaming console.
The service, set to launch sometime in 2008, is a joint venture between Sony and Britain’s Sky. The service aims to take advantage of the Ipod dominated content-on-the-go craze. It will allow users to download anything from sports casts to films and tv shows right to their PSP.
In an interview with Reuters, David Reeves of Sony’s European games unit said the company plans to expand into a minimum of four other countries. “There are other content aggregators … certainly in Germany, in France, also in Italy, Russia even, Scandinavia certainly and the Netherlands.”
The Sony PSP console retails for $169.99.
