Janeane Garofalo Joins the Cast of 24 for Season 7Let’s face it, cast additions for Fox’s 24 have always been hit or miss. In a strange turn of events (though not as strange as Season 7 in Africa), the action drama has chosen Janeane Garofalo as a cast regular. TVGuide is reporting that she will play a government agent that pesters Jack Bauer as he tries to save the world (or just Los Angeles) for the 7th time.

Garofalo’s style definitely conjures up parallels with Chloe (Mary Lynn Rajskub) and her comedic background, but biting wit and sarcasm. I still haven’t made up my mind on this cast addition because I’m too worried about the production delays that are plaguing the show. Rumor also has it that Season 7 will not have CTU, but will include Chloe O’Brian and Bill Buchanan. Writers and producers of the show are promising a massive overhaul of the show, so stayed tune for details on what they come up with.

Now back to that hit or miss topic, let’s take a look at the show’s track record of cast additions beyond the first season:

Mary Lynn Rajskub as Chloe : Hit
Aisha Tyler as Marianne Taylor: Big Miss
D.B.Woodside as Wayne Palmer: Hit Season 3, Miss Season 6
Sean Astin as Lynn McGrill : Neutral
Reiko Aylesworth as Michelle Dessler : Big Hit
Roger Cross as Curtis Manning: Hit
Ricky Schoder as Mike Doyle: Miss originally, but turned into a surprising hit
Kim Raver as Audrey Raines: Miss
James Morrison as Bill Buchanan : Hit
Eric Balfour as Milo Pressman: Miss
Marisol Nichols as Nadia Yassir : Miss
Alberta Watson as Erin Driscoll : Miss
Peter Weller as Christopher Henderson : Hit
Regina King as Sandra Palmer : Miss
James Cromwell as Philip Bauer: Hit

Who else tickled your fancy or left a bad aftertaste?
