avatarbook3.jpgOddly enough, the release date for season 3 of Avatar The Last Airbender on DVD has been announced before the official release date of Avatar on Nickelodeon. The DVD hits shelves on October 30th, and will contain five episodes. (UPDATE) It’s now official. Season 3 will premier on Nickelodeon Friday September 21, 2007. That should give younger audiences enough time to get their bearings in their new classrooms. And, give older audiences ample time to set up their DVR and Tivo systems to record some all-out fire-bending action.

One note, it looks like Uncle Iroh will indeed be in the third season of Avatar, but no word yet on who will be voicing the character. Mako, the original actor who voiced Uncle Iroh, passed away July 21, 2006 of esophageal cancer.

Titles for the first five Avatar The Last Airbender Episodes are as follows:

  1. “The Awakening”
  2. “The Headband”
  3. “The Painted Lady”
  4. “Sokka’s Master”
  5. “The Beach”

The excitement has been building since the end of 2006 for the release of the third and, reportedly, final season of Avatar. Rumors had been circulating through cyberspace for several months all with different season premier dates. But, with the announcement of the DVD release and the trailer from Comic Con, the fire-bending Avatar is most assuredly near.

Also, be on the lookout for an official trailer from Nickelodeon in the coming week on their Turbo Nick website.

Still, no word yet on the Avatar the Last Airbender movies. James Cameron and Fox have been planning a movie by the name Avatar for the past 10 yeaars. Which throws a wrench in Paramount’s existing plan to make three live-action Avatar movies, based on the animated series. Paramount may settle on calling the Avatar the Last Airbender movies just plain old Airbender to compromise.

    Hi Laura
You are indeed correct! We actually addressed Baldwin taking over for Mako as the new voice for Iroh last month in the following article:
Baldwin Takes Over as Iroh in Avatar the Last Airbender Season 3

    Thanks!
