The Bourne Ultimatum took in 70.2 million in box office sales this weekend, setting a record for Bourne based movies. It’s two predecessors The Bourne Identity and The Bourne Supremecy took in $27.1 Million and $52.5 Million respectively during their opening weekends.
This is a glimmer of light for the box office which typically sees a slump in sales during the late summer months as people go away on vacation. Top films this weekend topped film sales of the same weekend last year by 36%. Overall sales for 2007 are up 6% over 2006.
