Take-Two Interactive Software Inc., who publishes the Grand Theft Auto, has pushed the release date of GTA IV back to early 2008. The game was expected to be released in October of this year. The publisher and the games’ developer, Rock Star Games, need more time to develop and test the game.

For the first time, Take-Two is releasing the game on a non-Playstation Console. GTA IV will be available on the XBox 360 as well.

This spells major disappointment for gamers that were ready to vicariously go on another crime spree. The delay will make the game miss the ever important holiday season.

In the long run, I think people will be content with the delay. Most gamers would prefer a late release than a buggy game. Also, considering that the year’s most popular game (Halo 3) will be released in September, at least gamers can’t call the fourth quarter of this year a dry spot in gaming.
