It’s that time of the week again. Sunday night and I’ve got to decide what to watch on tv. The choice should be simple, after all it is the summer season and there aren’t that many new shows to watch. And, why spend the night watching television, when I can spend that time wrapping up the last few chapters of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows?
Here’s the reason: three new shows from Lifetime (Army Wives, Side Order of Life, and State of Mind). Now, Army Wives has already earned a place in my Sunday night. With Joan returning home and Frank and Denise’s relationship on the fritz, I’ve got to know what happens. So, there - I’m watching Army Wives. 1 hour gone.
Okay, now on to Side Order of Life and State of Mind. Both shows share the similar Ally McBeal type setup. The major difference though is that the Lili Taylor, the star actress of State of Mind, just edges out her Marisa Coughlan, her counterpart on Side Order of Life. Taylor’s personality quirks and unique look, makes her character more lovable to a broader audience, including me. Coughlan, though great in her role, has a more commonplace Hollywood-Barbie-doll look. She’ll have to push her role a little further to grab new audiences.
So, I guess that’s my decision. I’ll read Harry Potter, until State of Mind hits the air. Then I’ll kick back for two hours and enjoy two great new shows on Lifetime. But, you know what? I’ll probably Tivo Side Order of Life. Hey, it’s 2007 afterall.
