Heroes star Zachary Quinto, aka Sylar, and Star Trek legend Leonard Nimoy, aka Spock shook hands on Thursday to an audience of sci-fi comic fanatics.

Fans jubilantly greeted the stars Quinto and Nimoy. The reason for the meeting was a symbolic passing of the torch. Nimoy, 76, has recently agreed to reprise his role as Spock in the upcoming 2008 Star Trek movie. Quinto will be playing “young Spock.”

One can only assume that Quinto didn’t get the role through his violent Syler tactics, and tear off someone’s head. Whatever the case, the role is well deserved. Quinto bears a startling resemblance to Nimoy, and has proven his acting talent time-and-time-again on NBC’s Heroes.

Co-producer of the new Star Trek movie J.J. Abrams did not confirm whether William Shatner would also appear to reprise his role as Captain Kirk. But, as Spock would say, “It is logical.”
Production is expected to begin in November.
