On July 14, Miami Ink tattoo artist legend Kat Von D opened up her new rockin’ tattoo spot, High Voltage Tattoo, to the public. The LA based shop is also the focus of TLC’s new Miami Ink tattoo shop spin off series LA Ink, starring Kat Von D.

For Kat fans who have been dying to see their favorite tattoo artist since her departure from Miami Ink, walk-ins are welcome at High Voltage: Monday through Friday, 9pm to midnight, and Saturday and Sunday, 2pm to midnight. So, skate up the hot mini ramp and sit down in Kat’s tattoo chair for some new ink.

Unfortunately, during the filming season, the shop will be closed to the public on weekends until 9pm. But, hey why not try getting cast on the show by stopping lainkcasting.com.

(Update: Season 1 filming is complete, the shop is open for business from noon until midnight [Story])

The shop is located at:
1259 n. La Brea Ave.
W. Hollywood, CA 90038

LA Ink premiers August 7th at 10:00pm on TLC.

hi kat im mike from maryland and ive got many tattoo ideas in mind. i already have two (my initials MAG on my neck and and a sword on my right arm) that im not completely satisfied with. i would either like to get one or both of those improved or just get an entirely new tattoo. if i get a new one im interested in either a memorial for 4 recently deceased loved ones or a some type of very unique cross, and i also like dragons and any japanese art. above anyone else both me and mother believe that you are by far the best chance and worth the distance to travel. i know your really busy and probably will never read this but i really would like to get your ideas or opinion it. look forward to hopefully hearing from you.

    Hi LA Ink!
I just wanted to let you guys know I love your show and your work!! I got my first tattoo a year and a half ago and would like to add to it. My tattoo is a cross between my shoulders and would like to add something to it for my mom who died on May 14th 2009. She died of lung and adrenal cancer. She took chemo for a year and it did more harm than good, so she quit the chemo and lived five months and then died. I miss her so much but I know she’s in a better place. You know not hurting anymore and breathing great!!! I hope you guys could help me with my design for her on my back.

    Thanks,
    Cheree Nitz

This is my reply to Kim Meulenbergh:

Don’t discriminate Kat and her tattoos, or tattoos in general. this post is for her fans, if you wanted to discriminate her, then why not go to her famous shop and say it to her face? then we’ll see who’s the tough person. In the meantime, don’t hate, appreciate.

    ANYWAY.
Kat, I think you’re the most amazing tattooist and you’re a great female icon for me, because of how far you’ve come, in terms of opening up your own business. I’m coming to LA next year to meet you and hopefully get tattooed by you. :)

    rock on Kat!

    Kat,

I wanted to write to you and tell you I love watching your show.
I’m 34 years old and have never been tattooed before. I’ve been getting more and more obsessed with the fact that since I have to boys now(mommy’s boy),that I’ve been wanting to find something that reflects them and the love I have for them, whether its their name or a symbol. With that said I know with your experience and the work that you have done there are so many options. Would you have some advice or a suggestion for me? I could also send you a picture of my snuggy’s..lol that might help. Please let me know, by the way, I was at a birthday party that had tattoos for kids, and I got stuck putting them on all the children, being my name is Katherine, I was Kat Von D for the night.

Hi Kat, love your show and never miss an episode. I’m 58 and got my first tatoo right after my divorce in 1980, and have about 15 so far. I am just learning the art of Permanent Makeup and have done a few tatoos on friends and relatives already. I would love to get a tatoo done of my brother who passed away in 2003 and will come in someday very soon. I wish you the best of luck in the future and hope to meet with you soon.

Hey Kat, and everyone from LA Ink-

I am 31 yrs old, and since I was 18 I have wanted a tatoo. My mom, who is an amazing artist was supposed to draw it up for me, and with some health issues, and life in general getting in the way I am feeling like I will be waiting till never at this point. I am now a single mom of 4, and I want to get my kids birth flowers, and a lil’ somethin’ for my mom who is the most important person in my life. Any hoot, I love your work, and having had to wait so long I would really like to get work done by someone as close to as good as you are as possible. Do you know of any spectacular artists in Denver, Colorado? I really, really hope so. With having kids it’s hard to have a piece of time to do all that research, and of course I trust your judgement. Thank you so much for taking time to read this, I know your time is limited. I love you guys! Love A True Fan,

    Andi from Denver

Hi Kat….. I just wanted to say I love your show and first started watching you when you were on Miami Ink.
I am 47 years old and just got my first Tattoo a couple of months ago and have been hooked ever since. I now have 7 Tattoos.
I have been to LA once when my husband was on a business trip and wished I had, had the time to pop in and see your shop.
I am hoping that my husband gets another chance to go to LA and would love to stop in and get a Tattoo from you (if possible). I admire your ambition and your art.

    Take care and God Bless,

In a recent episode you did a tatoo for a man whose parents were on The Andredoria. A ship that sunk off the coast New England back in the 50’s. My Dad and Uncle were part of the rescue crew for the passengers on that ship and served as interpreters for the many Italian speaking passengers. I thought it would be cool if I could connect with the gentleman who had that tatoo done. My name is Gerry D’Onofrio. My email is gerry@legacyfibers.com
I live in San Diego, California.

    Hey Kat
i just recently turned 18 and not too long before that my grandmother passed away. she was a big inspiration to me. so i have this tat that i want and it will be my first but probably not my last. i have seen your work in your book and on the show and i love how detailed it is. i’m sure it cost a lot of money to get a tat by you or anyone in your shop but it is a dream that i have had for a very long time. im writing because i dont think there is any other person that is as detailed in their work and that is how i want my tat to be. it will take up half of my back and probably hurt like a b*tch but its for my grandma and she went through a lot so i think i can put up with it for a few hours. and i dont care what people say they can talk their shit but you know everyones got their haters.
