The LA Times has obtained a list of the top 10 Emmy finalists for Best Drama and Comedy Series. Some obvious entries in the Drama category are Heroes, The Sopranos, House, and Lost. I’m a little shocked to see 24 nominated over shows like Rescue Me and Deadwood. Critics slammed the past season of 24 as being the worst of the show’s six seasons. Doesn’t matter anyway - consider the Sopranos a shoe-in for the trophy for its truly awesome final season.
On the Comedy Side, Ugly Betty received a nod, I guess there was no way not to give it one. The show started off strong, but fizzled toward the end of its first season. However, it is good to see Entourage and Scrubs receive nominations, although I’m sure The Office will take the cake. Strangely Desperate Housewives received a nomination for comedy even though most would call it a drama. And given that I could probably watch an entire season of that show with a straight face, I’d call it a drama too.
