Wrestler Chris Benoit has been found in his Atlanta home, along with his wife Nancy and 7-year old son Daniel.
Police Lt. Tommy Pope of the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department found the three dead at their home around 2:30 pm. The police are currently investigating the death as a homicide.
A statement issued by the WWE today said, “WWE extends its sincerest thoughts and prayers to the Benoit family’s relatives and loved ones in this time of tragedy.”
In honor of Benoit, the WWE has cancelled its Monday Night RAW show scheduled in Corpus Christi, Texas. Instead, WWE will hold a three-hour tribute to Benoit on the USA Network.
Benoit was scheduled to appear at the WWE’s pay-per-view event on Sunday called “Vengeance.” According to announcer Jim Ross, Benoit was replaced at the last minute due to “personal reasons.”
