If you were wondering what happened to Miami Ink’s Kat Von D, look no further. Kat will be back August 7 in the new series “LA Ink.” While the tattoo scene is generally male dominated, LA Ink takes a step in an excitingly bold new direction with a female dominated shop.

Show Description:

Kat Von D Miami Ink to LA InkKat Von D has come home to LA to open up her own tattoo shop. The news has spread, and before the shop has even opened, it’s clear it will be one of the most popular in LA. She already has a wait-list of clients a mile long including celebrities, rising starlets, punk rockers and tattoo collectors. But with popularity come headaches, drama, and lots of business streaming through the door.

LA offers a wide variety of clients ranging from Hollywood power brokers to new-age herbalists to hard-core bikers. Every person has a different reason for getting a tattoo and these stories will provide the core of each LA Ink episode. Three of the LA Ink artists are women: Kat Von D, Kim Saigh and Hannah Aitchison, setting it apart from most tattoo shops in the country. Renowned underground tattooer Corey Miller whom Kat has idolized and respected for years is the lone male artist. Kat’s friend Pixie Acia will be the shop’s manager.

LA is known for its tattoo culture, and Kat Von D defines it. She lives the fast-paced and rebel lifestyle, playing by her own rules. Hers is a life of freedom: she sets up her own schedule, picks her clients, sleeps late and parties all night. For her shop to be a success, she’ll need to learn to balance that with running her own business. Like others in her world, bartenders, writers, artists, musicians, stylists, and models, Kat’s chosen a career in which she can say whatever she wants to say, look the way she wants to look, and do as she pleases. LA Ink provides a rare glimpse into her world.

I have not a single tattoo on my body (yet). I sure did not like them at all before and not sure if I like them now. However…my husband’s (of 20 years) birthday is coming up and I can’t think of anything to give him. I am thinking of having some kind of portrait, or something about us tattooed on my my body. That will totally shock him but then I know will make him feel special (though he is just as conservative as I am). His birthday is in September. I have no clue what a tattoo would cost…not even the minimum.

Saw on L.A. ink a tat I loved, I think Kim did it. Does anyone know how I could get a copy of that show. The tat was on a girls side, it was of shoes and girly things?

    Love the show.

I’m curious as to how much they charge, not that I would ever drive to LA just to get a tattoo and be on a waiting list for months. I’m sure they are way overpriced though.

Hello… I just LoVe your show, but, most of all your work and I heard that if I contact you I might be able to get on your show to get tatooed is that true? I something in mind… My mom died about 3 years ago my dad is still with us but this idea came to me.
I studied Am. Sign Language some years back, anyway I wanted to get the sign of ” I REALLY LOVE YOU” and on the life line I wanted my mom and dads names birth and death dates and on the children line I would like my kids names.
I wanted it as a chest piece I don’t think I could handle that so on my back by the back of my heart cause they ALL are deep in there ( my heart).

This show is getting boring. I was a faithful Kat follower, but I think they need to do something to spice it up.

Show is kind of boring if you ask me. Kat was cool on Miami ink, but is kind of annoying on her own show. Also, dont know if her fans have noticed, but you can definitely tell she had surgery to remove an extra toe…
