Amazon.com is running a promotion much like Domino’s did back in the 80s (oh I hope i’m not dating myself). Whereas Domino’s promised pizza delivery in 30 minutes or less or your pie is free, Amazon.com is guaranteeing delivery of the 7th and final book in the Harry Potter series on July 21 or your order is free.
This is no trivial matter. But, I see it as a win-win situation. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by J.K. Rowling sells for a pricey 34.99. If you order it through Amazon with standard shipping you pay roughly $20. If it arrives a day the week after, you’ve got yourself a free book and saved $34.99 by not rushing out to the book store on release day. If it arrives on July 21, you can spend your weekend finding out if Snape is really the treacherous Slytherin snake we’ve always suspected him to be.
So, buy the book. And tune in for what may very well be one of the most heated debates since two weeks ago when The Sopranos finally came to a close.
