I’m going to go out on a limb and say I was disappointed with Tuesday’s (June 12) season premier of Miami Ink on TLC. I fear that our favorite tattoo parlour may be losing site of exactly what made them great - tattoos.
Is it me, or was the egregious use of bikinis models, seem completely out of left field. Granted it’s been a while (we won’t go into years, a woman’s got to have her secrets) since I’ve visited the tattoo parlour. But, Miami or no Miami, it just doesn’t seem like the “atmosphere” that befits the world of tattoos. And, not to get sidetracked, what was with the tennis scene?
Ok, I digress. Now, I’m starting to gripe like Link and Bags when they go on a rant about video games or comic book-to-movie adaptations.
Anyway, what I did enjoy in this episode was Annie the eighty-year-old woman who decided to get her first tattoo. That small segment, coupled with Eucina the vampire, saved the show for me. Because that’s what this show is about. It’s not about girls walking around in thong bikinis. It’s about the tattoos, the artistry, the artists, and the eclectic mix of customers. That’s where the reality is. That’s where the truth is. And, that’s where the comedy lies.

What was your opinion of the season opener?

For anyone who doesn’t know it yet Miami Ink has nothing to do with the real world and the show Sucks!!! I mean come on do people really think tattoo shops are like that. My husband is a tattoo artist and I have been in many a shop and they are NOT like “Miami Ink”.
And yes they have lost sight of who they are and why they are there. I’ve seen better tattoos done in places no one has ever heard of. They have terrible attitudes and they think thier sh*@ don’t stink. Well boys ya ain’t all that. The only difference from them and the REAL tattoo artists of the world is that some idiot thought giving them a “reality” show about a tattoo shop was a good idea. They’re an embarassment to the tattoo scene. They aren’t in it for the art anymore. They’re attention hounds and they sure as hell don’t deserve it
And why do we have to know if one of them buys a house before a baby is born and why do we have to watch them look for one? If they want to be on a home search show go to HGTV!!! No one gves a rats ass about their new house.
With any luck someone in TV land will realize that this is gargage and take it off the air. Oh and even worse is LA Ink. PLEASE someone get a grip and get this crap off TV.
The ep was hysterical. Oh and I digged the bikinis.
