On June 23, the Laugh Factory, a comedy club based in Hollywood, will hold auditions for its annual comedy camp.

Every summer since 1984, a group of 40 or more inner-city kids have the experience of a lifetime onstage at the Laugh Factory Comedy Camp. During this 10-week long workshop, underprivileged children ages 9-16 from all over Los Angeles are mentored and encouraged by Laugh Factory founder and owner Jamie Masada plus an entourage of comedians such as Jim Carrey, Chris Tucker, and Damon Wayans. The Laugh Factory Comedy Camp program provides a unique environment where Masada and his comedic team of talent teaches kids the craft of comedy and performance while helping them to develop important life-skills such as self-esteem, confidence, communication, and self-control.

The Laugh Factory Comedy Camp was celebrated in a PBS documentary, “Standup: A Summer at Comedy Camp,” which was shown nationwide on PBS Stations in August of 2002.
