Heroes Season 2 : Will Nathan Petrelli Return?

Season 2 of Heroes on NBC is fast approaching and fans are still wondering about the cliffhanger we were left with. Did Nathan Petrelli commit the ultimate sacrifice in saving his brother Peter from destroying all of New York City? When we last saw him, he flew his brother Peter high above the earth so that Peter could detonate without killing thousands. There’s been a ton of speculation as to whether or not Nathan flew away from Peter in time to save himself.

Last week, Adrian Pasdar, who plays Nathan, was at an event for Canadian network Global Television, who has announced that Heroes will be part of their Fall 2008 schedule. The fact that Pasdar was at this event makes one wonder if he will, in fact, be back for season 2. When asked about plot details, he commented:

“During the first season we were asked to talk to anybody who would listen in order to promote the show and this year, everybody wants to talk to us but we’ve been asked not to say anything,” said Pasdar, whose mere appearance suggests that his character survives the blast in the season finale.

“I feel good about the direction it’s heading in, I think it’s across the boards surprising for each character and for each audience member, whoever their favorite character is. It takes a wildly different arc then you might think. Season Two is going to be a big surprise.”

Obviously, it’s speculation to say Nathan will be back, but I guess we’re all fishing for some hint as to what Season 2 will be about. Nathan wasn’t exactly a willing hero (until the end), but he was at least one of the more complex and interesting characters that the show had to offer. His and other characters’ struggle with their powers (and the responsibities that came with them) made for some pretty amazing TV in Season 1.

But at least we have something. Masi Oka, who plays Hiro, seemingly will start off the season in ancient Japan. Oka was also at the event with Pasdar confirmed that his sidekick Ando will return for season 2.
