Classic SNL Fans have something to cheer about. Tonight at 8pm (7c), NBC is re-airing its Saturday Night Live in the 90s special, which features classic moments from the show’s veterans like Chris Rock, David Spade, Norm MacDonald, and Will Farrell.
Even better is NBC’s SNL Backstage website, which provides a comprehensive look into the prdouction of the show and the shenanigans that occur behind the scenes. It’s chock full of videos and content for the current cast, as well as for the older (and funnier in my opinion) casts of the 80s and 90s. Some of the videos include a look backstage with the Weekend Update Team, Chris Rock cracking jokes during a rehearsal, and an interview with Will Ferrell on the 90s special. There’s even a funny behind the scenes video showing Drew Barrymore go through many takes for just a 10 second promo for the show. But it doesn’t stop there, there’s much more to view.
The site also has a blog by current cast member Fred Armisen. It’s pretty insightful as he talks about how he prepares for each specific skit during the show each week and even talks about the week’s guest star and music performers.

SNL is a shadow of its former self. I wonder when NBC or Lorne Michaels will pull the plug. Same goes for 30 Rock - Alec Baldwin is awesome, but the jokes just land flat
