In the latest round of book-to-movie adaptations, Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson will be joining forces to bring Tintin to movie screens. The story is based on the Belgian comic-strip character Tintin by Georges Remi, who wrote under the pen name of Herge. Surprisingly, the director/producers already plan for three features released back-to-back, with Jackson and Spielberg directing at least one each.

Variety reports, Tintin will incorporate motion-captured 3D, much like The Polar Express and will be released through DreamWorks.

Speilberg said, “Herge’s characters have been reborn as living beings, expressing emotion and a soul which goes far beyond anything we’ve seen to date with computer animated characters … We want Tintin’s adventures to have the reality of a live-action film, and yet Peter and I felt that shooting them in a traditional live-action format would simply not honor the distinctive look of the characters and world that Herge created.”

Jackson recently signed a deal with DreamWorks to direct Lovely Bones. Spielberg is currently working on Indiana Jones 4.
